The new 20’ Daiwa Legalis LT series is based on the well-established LT concept. So check out this new Daiwa Legalis LT spinning reels review article to see how the 20’ Legalis LT Daiwa offers the highest quality standards at an incredible price-performance ratio. Daiwa once again impressively proves that silky smooth working and the highest toughness do not necessarily have to come along with great costs.

The new 2022 Daiwa Legalis LT features Daiwa’s rigid LT body (light yet tough) constructed from a carbon-based composite that is much lighter than conventional materials yet very durable. The Air Rotor and Air Bail also contribute to a much greater strength-to-weight ratio, making the Daiwa Legalis LT lighter and easier to handle without fatigue over the long course of a full day of demanding fishing. By shrinking the Daiwa Legalis LT size and using the novel and innovative Zaion V material, Daiwa succeeded in reducing the Daiwa Legalis LT’s weight even further – as a consequence, the 20’ Legalis LT 2500 weights only an incredible 200 grams! The Zaion V composite additionally contributes to an increased toughness and an improved transmission of the retrieving power.

The Tough Digigear with an enlarged drive wheel is the key asset for smooth running and utmost resilience. The ATD drag provides the highest sensitivity and works without starting resistance.

According to the respective size, the 20’ Legalis series is the proper choice for numerous applications like spin fishing, feeder fishing, light trout fishing, or even specimen hunting for tench, bream & Co.

Built around Daiwa’s “Light and Tough” concept, the new Legalis LT is constructed from a carbon-based composite that is much lighter than conventional materials yet very durable. The Air Rotor and Air Bail also contribute to a much greater strength-to-weight ratio, making the reels lighter and easier to handle without fatigue over the long course of a full day of fishing. Features such as Advanced Tournament Drag and precision cut Digigear main gear make the new Daiwa Legalis LT a fine choice for a wide variety of spinning reel applications.

Daiwa’s innovative bail design features a hollow tubular stainless steel bail that delivers maximum rigidity and strength with minimum weight. Featuring a smooth protrusion-free design and construction, line slides unencumbered along the Air Bail towards the line roller for trouble-free line control.

The Airbail reel handle is hollow and thus very lightweight, extremely strong, and exceptionally resilient. The special, strengthening construction prevents the twisting of the line around the bail, which was a big problem for spin anglers in the past.

Lighter, stronger, and more balanced than any rotor system that’s come before, ‘Air Rotor’ delivers a great leap forward in rotor design and function and delivers the ultimate reel sensitivity and rotational balance.

The magnetic oil barrier not only prevents the intrusion of water, but it also increases the ease of motion and the delicacy of feeling of the Daiwa Legalis LT. You feel better connected to the lure, detect softer bites and experience more sensitivity during the fight with the fish. Especially for this new feeling, Daiwa developed the “Air rotor.”

First, the enormous strains, which affect the rotor via the line and the line roller, are better distributed. This causes less pressure on the single parts of the rotor. Second, the new rotor is 15% more light weighted than usual rotors of the same material – this reduces vibrations and enhances the rotational balance thanks to a very low center of gravity.

Under the same strain, a conventional rotor is much more distorted than an Air Rotor since here, the strain is scattered over the whole rotor and not concentrated to one point.

Daiwa’s Automatic Tournament Drag uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag starts up. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia and, combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System, results in a smoother drag from the initial hook-up.

ATD stands for the further development of the UTD drag. The ATD drag is excelled by an even more delicate drag transition and, as a consequence thereof, is perfectly suited for the use of braided lines. Contrasting to the UTD drag, at the ATD already at the beginning of a strike, the drag starts smoothly, then increases to its pre-set drag rating in a fraction of a second, thus eliminating line breakage at the strike. Daiwa has combined a variety of improvements; internal spool support, shaft construction, and drag knob surface area to toughen and enhance even further what ATD delivers. Daiwa Legalis LT reels provide an astonishing level of improved maximum drag power, even though they are reduced in size and lightweight.

An incredibly strong carbon-based composite material, lighter and tougher than ordinary graphite, and unlike metal, it doesn’t corrode.

Zaion is an excellent material developed by DAIWA to build reel bodies and rotors. The big advantage of this material is its lightness and solidity – you will feel this. Zaion is a kind of ‘High Density’ carbon strain material, which is made for the highest performance and to resist maximum impact.

Due to Zaion, it is possible to construct a lightweight reel body that durably supports the gearing. The strength of Zaion corresponds to magnesium and is 20% stronger than Nylon/ABS material, usually used for reel bodies. Zaion is about 50% lighter than aluminum.

Daiwa’s first generation of digitally engineered gear design ensures a perfect mesh between the ultra-tough drive gear and pinion gears for optimized speed, power, durability, and smoothness. It is machined, digitally developed gearing for maximum performance and endurance. It smoothly and efficiently transmits the power of the handle directly to the rotor. Keeping the merits of DIGIGEAR, Daiwa considered how to make the gear tougher than ever. Daiwa studied all aspects; diameter, thickness, teeth shape, and size. Daiwa experimented and tested everything one by one, refining and improving each element. The result is a leap in the level of DIGIGEAR toughness.

An inline, pin-through handle assembly makes handle removal and installation simple and quick, with the handle inserted through the Daiwa Legalis LT and then secured into place with a threaded screw cap.

By completely reconsidering the spool shape, size, and thickness Daiwa achieved a drop in spool weight, creating a very light aluminum spool. This is lighter than our current Air Spool made from ABS and noticeably enhances the Daiwa Legalis LT balance. By the special position and bearing of the oscillation-gear wheels, Daiwa improved the smoothness of the gear in comparison to usual systems of similar construction.

A weak part of many reels – the most reliable part of a DAIWA reel. Only high-quality parts made of steel with the smallest tolerances are used.

Daiwa Legalis LT is a true reel for the masses – the brand-new 21 Daiwa Legalis LT incorporating ZAION V construction. The heart of this redesign is Daiwa’s brand-new ZAION V material. Upgrading the Daiwa Legalis LT significantly from the previous Carbon Light body, ZAION V is not only lighter but also much stronger, delivering a reel body with minimal flex and movement and increased durability, especially in larger reel sizes.

LEGLT1000D

Daiwa Legalis LT Video Review:Features At a Gance:
