The new Daiwa Saltiga series of reels released in 2020 will make many anglers dreams come true. In 2020 Daiwa Saltiga will return to the market with the introduction of a MQ body and brand-new cosmetics. The larger diameter radiation drag knob with heat sink system coupled with a newly designed drive gear brings strength and smoothness to the reel whilst the latest technology spool creates troubles free casts. By adding every element of newly developed Daiwa Technology, we are certain by far that the 20 Saltiga is the toughest reel produced throughout the long history of Saltiga.
Ever since the first Saltiga was released in 2002, the demand for heavy-duty saltwater spinning reels has constantly increased. The original Saltiga set a new standard for this category and has continually evolved throughout its eighteen-year history.
Now, in 2020 Saltiga is re-imagined delivering anglers the most technologically advanced Saltiga ever produced. Original Saltiga field-tester Mr Murakoshi says, "the original Saltiga was all about the angler and field tester, 10 Saltiga was all about the engineer and their creations. Now, 20 Saltiga is the perfect mixture of both".
Extensively redesigned and engineered from drag knob to handle the 20 Saltiga features the most advanced list of features ever, to once again affirm itself as the ultimate saltwater spinning reel.
New Daiwa Saltiga 2020 saltiga is equipped with a newly developed machine cut tough drive gear made of G1 gerolament the drive gear is one of the key elements which brings unmatched cranking power to the reel.
The material properties of G1 gerolamine delivers perfect meshing of the gear teeth, which creates a gear design, which is smoother under rotation to produce the feel of smooth and effortless winding. By adding thickness to the gear design it reduces deflection of the gear set by more than 50%.
In comparison to the previous model Saltiga the drive gear diameter has increased 112% with the added thickness the durability of the drive gear has increased 225% combining these two elements creates power, nobody has ever seen. Daiwas unique creation and technology monocoque body allows a larger size gear which provides extra strength to the drive gear.
The durability of the body comes from the use of high-strength aluminum. The monocoque body creates more space for a larger diameter drive gear while improving the performance of the water-resistant system even more.
MagSeal water-resistance to the next level. The newly developed finishing technique has elevated the adhesion of protective coatings and resulted in higher corrosion resistance to the reel.
Extra strength has been added to the real foot and bearings to accommodate the increased power of the internal construction. The newly developed aluminum rotor has an increased strength of more than two hundred percent in comparison to the models in the past. It works in conjunction with the increased strength brought to the real by the larger diameter drive gear installed in the monocoque body.
The perfectly balanced rotor has an increased retrieve ratio along with reducing the retrieve load creating the feel of effortless winding under pressure. Well-designed heat dissipation technology is critical as built up heat has a large impact on the drag performance and weakens the system the original plastic drag knob has been replaced with an aluminum radiation drag knob which functions as a heat sink to remove heat from inside the drag stack increasing the diameter of the drag knob by 42 percent further improve the functionality and volume of heat dissipation the new heat dissipation drag system reduces the chance for line damage and allows the angular to fight the fish longer and harder without stress.
By increasing the amount of carbon drag washers in each dry system it allows 2020 Saltiga to get to achieve a higher max drag pressure it also increased smooth performance of the drag system by 75% since installing the new drag washer system by identifying the line troubles encountered with the older ABS2 system a redesigned long cast ABS spool has created the perfectly balanced line flow while casting and gives smoother feel and more effortless casting performance.
Introducing the latest technology wilt implementing the latest construction techniques with high grade aluminum material has created a truly durable and high strength reel.
Break your record with the new Saltiga.
Re-engineered for 2020, the latest generation of Daiwa Saltiga Spinning Reels feature Daiwa's single piece Monocoque Body and a 12% larger G1 Duralumin drive gear. Since the first Daiwa Saltiga was released in 2002, the demand for heavy duty saltwater spinning reels has constantly increased. The original Saltiga set a new standard for this category and has continually evolved throughout its eighteen-year history. Now, in 2020 Saltiga is re-imagined delivering anglers the most technologically advanced Saltiga ever produced. Extensively redesigned and engineered from drag knob to handle the 20 Saltiga features the most advanced list of features ever, to once again affirm itself as the ultimate saltwater spinning reel. At the heart of the re-design is the brand new Monocoque body. A single piece body capable of holding much larger internal gearing components is machined from high-strength aluminum to provide unheralded strength and improved sealing. Housed within the MQ body, is a brand-new drive gear, providing gear strength more than double that of its predecessor. The new MQ body also boasts a new rear cover design, eliminating screws from the underside of the reel to improve against intrusion, the cover is also produced from reinforced ABS to eliminate potential electrolysis with the aluminum body. Improved paint & finishing processes also extend the durability to the cosmetic side, delivering much improved corrosion protection. Our engineers created a new drag stack, increasing the number of washers to deliver ten times the drag durability compared to the previous model Saltiga. A newly designed aluminum heat dissipating Drag Knob delivers improved cooling & heat dissipation. A newly designed ABS Longcast spool design offers improved casting performance and enhanced line management.
Being able to trust your reel while in use becomes a major advantage for an angler. The larger diameter and the added thickness will reduce the amount of wear including twist and deformation to the drive and also to the pinion gears. In comparison to 15 Saltiga, it is more than double the strength.
Up until 20 Saltiga, reel bodies consisted of two key elements known as a body and body cover. The MQ System does not require a body cover, it allows an Engine plate to screw on direct to the body. Therefore, the body no longer has a need for body cover screws, this development allows a larger diameter drive gear to be fitted providing the reel with more power.
From the first Saltiga, a water resistance system has been a must have technology. Starting off with rubber sealing, evolving to the way of Magseal system then the addition of Magseal bearings. Now with the MQ Body system, 20 Saltiga has finally obtained perfect a water resistance system.
The aluminum air rotor is more than double the strength compared to the 15 Saltiga. It is also 1.5 times more durable compared the original Saltiga (2002 Model).
In comparison to 15 Saltiga Drag washer, it is more than 10 times stronger and less likely to burn out quick. We have added more drag washers, which means workload gets spread evenly across the drag stack. By designing the washers with a slightly smaller diameter, it runs a lot smoother. Smaller means the per drag washer Max Drag Kg will decrease but we have solved that issues by adding more washers.
After a great success of Magseal, Daiwa has decided to install the Magseal system into a ball bearing. By adding the fluid, it creates a magnetic seal within the bearings to support and reduce the amount of saltwater intrusion. Instead of the use of rubber seals, its far more effective and creates smoother spin of the reel. In 20 Saltiga, Daiwa has installed the Magseal bearings on each side of drive gear just like 15 Saltiga. This structure will protect the internals of the reels and eliminate intrusion of saltwater.
Magsealed reels utilize Daiwa’s patented technology to apply magnetic oil that can change density and shape when a magnetic field is added. When Magseal technology is applied to the main shaft and/or line roller of a spinning reel, it produces a low-friction seal that keeps water, dust and grit from encountering the internal components of the reel. The result is a watertight seal with much lower resistance than rubber type seals.
Out of all the components within the reel, the Line Roller takes the most damage from the salt, sand and other elements your line picks up whilst fishing. By adding the Magseal bearing into the line roller assembly, it makes the roller remain smooth and extends its life. The long life of the Magseal line roller bearing system will decrease the amount of line troubles whilst fishing.
ATD (Advanced Tournament Drag) is the latest drag technology introduced to drag systems. ATD implements structural changes to the spool metal of the reel that provides greater support of the spool across the entire length of the main shaft. This additional support of the spool reduces spool twist under load, promotes more even pressure on the drag washers and ultimately reduces "pulsing" of the drag when fighting the fish. Implementing a high density woven carbon, impregnated with specially designed grease, the combination creates a smooth and fluid drag across all levels of pressure.
A maximized core diameter and reversed taper mean 100% usable line, with no more "dead" line buried in a deep core. You can fill it with line right up to the edge of the spool lip without fear of tangles. The ABS reverse tapered design causes less casting friction for longer and easier casting.
Saltiga 20 is designed to ‘Break Your Record’ with every piece and point carefully selected to help anglers achieve their fishing dreams. Made in Japan and bulging at the seams with technology, Saltiga is design excellence like only Daiwa can deliver, and strength and power that only Saltiga can offer.

The HG models are designed for both casting and jigging, whereas PG is geared for jigging applications and XG for saltwater casting.
The new Stella SW employs 'Infinity Drive’ where the pinion gear inner does not make contact with the main shaft, as a high-sliding bushing supports the main shaft. With this new structure, sliding resistance of the main shaft is drastically reduced.
In addition to this, a special skidding coating on the main shaft helps to further reduce sliding resistance. InfinityDrive cuts handle rotation torque by about 30 per cent in comparison to the conventional system, and makes the reel more powerful.
The Heat Sink Panel, where the heat generated by drag is released, stops any decrease in drag performance, due to thermal sagging, by around 50 per cent.
The Insulation Sheet, which blocks heat transfer to the spool, prevents spool temperatures from increasing by around 30 per cent. The evolution of the new drag system is easier on the line and more stable than ever. Featured in models 10000, 14000.
X-Protect was developed for stopper bearing protection in the previous model and provided high-level waterproofing. The new Stella SW employs X-Protect for its line roller as well and further improves its waterproofing performance.
The new structure protects bearings inside the line roller from the harsh saltwater environment, and bearing durability is ten times greater than conventional designs. As a result of comparison tests by Shimano.
The Hagane Gear is produced by applying approximately 200 tons of pressure to the raw metal through unique technology called Precision Cold Forging.
Delivered with micron accuracy, no cutting work is involved. Hard and tough, the Hagane Gear has high durability and delivers smooth winding.
The Hagane Body chassis is made of highly rigid aluminium alloy. It eliminates flex, warp and distortion of the reel, and protects the engagement of gears inside. This allows for smoother winding.
By verifying the thickness of the aluminium alloy rotor body through detailed 3D analysis, strong rigidity, high durability and excellent rotational balance is created. Thanks to its strong rigidity, the X-Rigid Rotor contributes to improved effectiveness of various parts such as the drag.
From the basic body design through to the most intricate parts of the drive train including the drive gear, worm shaft, worm shaft pin and worm shaft gear, every piece has been carefully reviewed.
Consequently, the smallest clearance gaps and wobbles have been eliminated to the highest tolerances. As a result, a new generation of silky smooth winding performance and pristine silence has been achieved.
In addition to an enlarged drive gear, optimum positioning of the pinion and drive gears, and two-point support of the pinion gear whose ends are supported by bearings, all these mechanisms deliver robust gear engagement.
The X-Ship system permits smooth winding, even under heavy loads.
X-TOUGH DRAG | RIGID SUPPORT DRAG
X-Tough Drag: Each drag washer is composed of metal or carbon, which have high resistance to friction. Supporting the spool from both the top and bottom means highly durable and stable drag performance.
Rigid Support Drag: Supporting the spool at two-points of the main shaft and bearing inside the spool eliminates spool wobble and delivers stable, smooth drag function.

Daiwa BG Saltwater Spinning Reels are so smooth with digitally cut gears and seven ball bearings. Daiwa has redesigned these reels lately. These reels are powerful, yet priced just right. There's a size for your every fishing need whether it's inshore, offshore, or shark fishing.
The next generation of our ever popular Daiwa BG Saltwater Spinning Reels spinning reel series just got leaner and meaner. This complete series ranges from ultralight freshwater actions to heavy big game saltwater models.
Daiwa BG is equipped with a machined aluminum body and body cover providing strength and internal part stability. To increase the strength in the form of corrosion and scratch resistance, Daiwa has Black Anodized the body and body cover. The anodization process allows for better adhesion to the aluminum and will not chip or peel like a painted surface, extending the brilliant look of the BG spinning series.
Daiwa BG spinning series have integrated the largest drive gear in the history of Daiwa spinning reels. The benefit to having this oversized gear increases gear-tooth contact points, this provides smoother and extended gear life as well as more power and increased torque.
Daiwa’s Screw-in-Handle design provides zero movement or play between the main gear and handle arm. This lack of movement offers the angler both confidence and control when rotating the handle.
The Air Rotor weighs up to 15% less than ordinary rotor designs. Its unique shape reduces unnecessary weight while distributing stress more evenly throughout the rotor for maximum strength.
The ABS spool's maximized core diameter and reversed taper mean 100% useable line. No "dead" line buried in a deep core. You can fill it with line right up to the edge of the spool lip without fear of tangles. ABS cause less casting friction for longer and easier casting. The huge spool diameter line flow freely in larger coils and produces less line memory coil.Smaller spool diameter means line flows in tighter coils as well.

Daiwa Saltist Back Bay LT sets the standard for inshore and back bay saltwater fisherman country wide. The Saltist Back Bay LT Reel employs our revolutionary HARDBODYZ design- utilizing an aluminum metal alloy, giving maximum strength and minimizing weight. These design features combine to create one of the lightest, strongest reels on the saltwater market. The Magsealed main shaft employ a magnetic oil that repels intrusion from salt water without compromising performance. The machined aluminum alloy DigiGear™ assures smooth, rugged performance with digitally milled gearing to maximize the efficiency of the gear-tooth interaction. Ideally suited for 8- and 10-pound test mono and equivalent braid, the Saltist Back Bay LT is Daiwa’s state of the art interpretation of the perfect light tackle backwater spinning reel.
With its revolutionary HARDBODYZ design, Magsealed main shaft, and DigiGear gearing, the Saltist Back Bay LT provides technical inshore anglers with one of the strongest and lightest reels on the market.
Beauty knows no bounds and design and performance has no limits with the legendary Saltist spin reel.
The new Saltist Back Bay LT introduces unrivalled ground-breaking technology to the world at a price point never available before. Digigear II, Magseal, ATD, Magsealed Line Roller and Air Rotor feature in the all-new Saltist Back Bay LT.
Given the popularity of saltwater fishing, reducing water penetration is a major goal to minimize corrosion, promote longer life and better performance. Daiwa found a solution - Magseal, this system greatly reduces the penetration of water inside the body via the main shaft. Being magnetized this lubrication system avoids any friction, reduces dust intrusion, eliminates oil spray and improves reel life expectancy.
Not content with Magsealing the rotor/anti-reverse system, Saltist Back Bay LT also introduces a fully contained Magsealed line roller system to attenuate water intrusion, maintain rotation smoothness and increase part longevity. Magseal has now reached the pinnacle of evolution.
Daiwa's new drag, ATD implements structural changes to the spool metal of the reel that provides greater support of the spool across the entire length of the main shaft.
This additional support of the spool reduces spool twist under load, promotes more even wear of the drag washers and ultimately reduces pulsing of the drag when fighting the fish. Combined with new improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag startup.
This reduces initial drag startup inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.
